Tackling teenage pregnancy

The department of health and the Mahwelereng Youth Centre is adamant that it needs to find reasons for an increase in teenage pregnancy despite their best efforts.
Members of the youth centre visits all the schools in the area annually to teach learners about abstinence and the different birth control methods. The youth centre also counsel teachers on how to support learners emotionally.
Last week the social development department hosted a youth dialogue between parents, teenagers and health professionals at the youth centre of Hope at Hospital view. This time they touched on the topic of male involvement in the campaign and educating men on their role in teenage pregnancies.
