Waterberg scoops up big awards

MOKOPANE – Waterberg High School scooped up big awards at a recent academic prize giving function held at their school hall. Besides being awarded with a fancy trophy for being the best big school in the Mogalakwena and Mokopane district, it also boasts with the most learners obtaining their bachelor’s in the district and circuit. 79 of the 109 Grade 12 learners obtain a bachelor’s, resulting in 72.4%. This is not all; another trophy was added in their showcase. They were named the ambassador school for the Mokopane circuit. Principal André Horn is proud of the school’s nine educators who received certificates for best performance in their respective Grade 12 subjects. They are teachers Betty Mothapo (Sepedi), Altie Meyer (Geography), Estelle Smuts (English), Mmamapelo Mabatamela (Life Orientation), Annetjie Meissenheimer (Life Sciences), Mavis Tsatsi (Physical Sciences), Marlyn Makhafola (Economics), Morongwa Lebelo (Accounting) and Marici Welding (Engineering Graphic Design). Two learners also received awards for being under the top five learners. These learners were recognised for obtaining the best marks in different subject. D. Sekholelo excelled in mathematics, accounting and economics. R. Tsatsi excelled in geography.
