These Grade 12 learners at Waterberg Academy will write the internationally recognised IEB Matric examinations this November.
Two of the 2016 matric pupils are Scholarship recipients who have benefited from having their tuition fees paid for entirely by the Waterberg Academy Educational Trust. The Trust was founded in 2013 with the sole purpose of providing financial assistance to young people to attend the Academy and benefit from the superior, rounded education that it is able to offer.
The Academy proudly boasts a 100% I.E.B. Matric Pass rate since the inception of its Matric class in 2008.
The Trust considers applications for Scholarships in the high school on the basis of academic merit alone; and for Bursaries on the basis of financial need, taking into account academic merit and behavioral factors.
IEB stands for the Independent Examinations Board. It is an assessment body that is accredited by Umalusi, the SA statutory body responsible for quality assurance for school and adult assessments. An IEB education is a fantastic alternative for parents who are looking to give their children a quality education that is recognised by both local and international universities. According to a study conducted at UCT in 2007, 98% of IEB students that registered for a three year degree actually finished the degree on time.
Whilst IEB students only made up 10% of its total students, 25% of its graduating students had IEB certificates.
Waterberg Academy is a non-profit independent day and boarding school, based in Vaalwater, in the heart of the Waterberg District. The school offers tuition from Grade 0000 to Matric (Grade 12). It is a member of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA) and is recognised as providing an excellent standard of academic, cultural and sporting education.
The goal of the school, which has a Christian ethos, is to instil in our young people values such as fairness, mutual respect, integrity, compassion and striving for excellence, while providing them with an excellent academic education. These values and skills will equip our graduates to take their places in society in purposeful informed roles, and to secure rewarding occupations.
Pupils entering Grade 8 in 2017 may submit an application for consideration to write the Scholarship exams. Visit the school website www.waterbergacademy.co.za or contact the Administration office 083 726 1838 or 087 820 7162.
