MOKOPANE - A group of 12 facilitators from Junior Engineers for Arica (JEFA) visited Mokopane Destiny Academy early in October for jam-packed sessions of engineering and enrichment.
Learners took part in exciting sessions according to six age groups. The Grade 1-3’s were guided to discover the progression from a disk to a wheel to a gear and to put it into practise. They were also inspired to build LEGO structures imaginatively along given themes. The Grade 4-6’s enjoyed workshops involving wheels and axles, junior robotics, strategy games and quatro chess- to mention but a few. The Grade 7-11’s gained knowledge regarding levers, gears, pulleys, pneumatics, and much more.
Many of the activities involved building structures with LEGO blocks to apply the newly gained knowledge.
The learners thoroughly enjoyed each workshop as knowledge gained was put into practice to spark
their enthusiasm and take them to a new level of learning.
