Mokopane Primary School’s head leaders for 2017 are Bridget Mphela (head girl), Thabang Thusi (head boy), Tumelo Mabusela (deputy head girl) and Lesedi Segodi (deputy head boy).

Mokopane Primary School hosted a prestige evening at their annual prize giving function in the school hall last week. Parents attended the function in large numbers to witness their children being awarded for different achievements during the year.

Grade 1 top academic achievers: Lesedi Kekana, Puseletso Mmenu and Koketso Moabelo. Grade 2: Lesego Ramasobang, Karabo Ledwaba and Oratile Mabusela. Grade 3: Wilita Lee, Neo Chilengue and Karabo Makgetha. Grade 4: Junior Mahlaela, Prosperity Kekana and Marita Magongo.

Grade 5: Khomotso Mgidi, Mmakgotso Ledwaba and Didimalo Mashishi. Grade 6: Kamano Legodi, Kgaogelo Letsoala and Lesego Seretlo. Mokopane Primary School’s Kedibone Manyama in Grade 6 and Shaun Maleka in Grade 7 are the best achievers in athletics. Maleka is also the sportsman of the year.

School’s soccer achievers: Emmanuel Masemola in Grade 5 was awarded for being the best junior boy soccer player. The best senior soccer player is Kabelo Lekalakala in Grade 7. Sandisiwe Phike in Grade 7 is the best senior girl soccer player, Faith Chipana in Grade 4, the junior girl with the best progress in soccer and Boitomelo Thobejane, Grade 4 is the best junior girl soccer player.

Netball players: Lethabo Marumo in Grade 4 is the best junior netball player and Lerato Mogatla in Grade 7 is the best senior netball player.

Hockey achievers are Oakly Marube in Grade 7, who was named the best boy hockey player and Mokgetwa Mahlo in Grade 6 boasts for being the best girl hockey player.

Top cricket achievers: Candice Moyi in Grade 4 (best girl cricket player) and Junior Seretlo in Grade 4 (the best boy cricket player).

Best gymnast awards went to Jay-Lee Booysen in Grade 7. The award for being the best boy chess player is Thabang Nkwana and the best girl chess player is Hailie Moraba (both in Grade 7).

Kgothatso Matgae in Grade 7 received the Dux learner award for 2016.

The media prefects for 2017 are Junior Gwangwa, Luyanda Kekana, Mmakgotso Ledwaba, Phakiso Ledwaba, Abiesage Lekoto, Resoketswe Leso, Petleka Mashala, Khomotso Mashishi, Salome Mathobela and Palesa Meyers, Khomotso Mgidi, Thembi Mogana, Tiego Mogata, Mbali Molemela, Jessica Moloantoa, Koketso Moloko, Maite Monareng, Annikie Mphago, Boitshwaro Nyatlo, Lehlogonolo Refapa and Sipho Somela.
