A 36-year old woman suspected to be a prostitute was murdered and her body set on fire in a shack in Marapong in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to Lephalale police, the owner of the shack, a 25 year old male was arrested on Sunday and charged with murder.
The police report states that the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck following an argument about payment for her services.
The accused left the scene, but later returned to dose the body with paraffin and set it on fire. Police found the half burnt body early Sunday morning.
The accused was arrested later that day. He briefly appeared in the Lephalale magistrate’s court, but was not asked to plead.
The accused will appear in court again on 28 June.
