New murals for Childrens’ ward

MOKOPANE – Local artist, Harry Lebelo, has been working around the clock last week to brighten up the lives of the little ones at Mokopane’s Voortrekker Hospital. Lebelo has made his time available at no cost after he was approached by DA Councillor, Korny Dekker, to help liven up the children’s ward. The DA sponsored the paint for the project. Lebelo will soon be opening a school of arts and signs in Mahwelereng where a host of interesting courses will be on offer. Watch the Northern News for more information on this school in future editions.

Verlede Donderdag het Laerskool Bosveld Primary hul jaarlikse Prestige prysuitdelingsfunksie in die Mogolsaal aangebied. Beste leerders in elke klas van Graad R tot Graad 3 is bekroon met `n boekprys en vanaf Graad 4 tot 7 is toekennings gemaak aan leerders wat die hoogste persentasie in elke leerarea in die graad behaal het. Top 10 leerders is ook beloon met `n medalje vir akademie. Die beste Reading Rocket lesers per graad is ook aangewys.

Ma Bardina vertel dat die kleinman elke oggend met die lammertjies speel. “Hy gaan sommer lê tussen hulle en probeer hulle elkeen optel en druk,” vertel sy. “Dis kostelik en laat mens dink aan Jesus wat geê het ons moet soos kindertjies word!”

MOKOPANE - As deel van die Demokratiese Alliansie se Blow the Whistle Against Crime-veldtog het Raadslid Korny Dekker Saterdag nog fluitjies aan die inwoners van Florapark in Mokopane oorhandig. Inwoners word aangeraai om die fluitjies om hul nekke te dra en dan daarop te blaas indien hulle deur misdadigers lastig geval word en hulp nodig het. So kan die gemeenskap saamwerk om misdaad te bekamp.

A dream come true for Moses

LEPHALALE - The fact that he was born blind has never stopped Moses Sekhobane from achieving his dreams. After completing his Grade 12 at a school for the blind in Polokwane, Moses enrolled at the University of Venda and completed his BA degree in media studies. Today Moses, who grew up in Mokurwanyane Village and whose family still lives in Lephalale, is the municipality’s assistant communication officer. He was appointed in August and has since proven that he is more than able to fill the position. Moses uses the JAWS computer programme which allows him to type documents, while a computer generated voice tells him which keys were pressed. Moses says he is very excited about this opportunity to work for the Lephalale Municipality.

Build-It celebrates six years

Build-It Lephalale celebrated its sixth birthday on Saturday with a fun day for its clients. Staff prepared boerewors rolls for all who attended the celebrations and prizes were handed out on the day. Phinah Modimola was the lucky winner of a cell phone and handing the prize over to her is co-owner, Braam Crots.
