Stolen car found in Marapong

A silver Polo 1.6 reported stolen in Seshego over the weekend was found on Wednesday in Marapong by members of the Public order policing unit. According to WO Frans Mokoena, the driver of the vehicle ran away as police officers approached the car where it was parked in Regorogile Street in Marapong.

Twee bejaardes in ongeluk beseer

Twee bejaardes onderweg van Vaalwater na Lephalale was Maandagoggend in ‘n ernstige ongeluk betrokke toe die voertuig waarin hulle gery het se voorwiel gebars en die motor gerol het. Volgens getuies op die toneel het een van die bejaardes ernstige nek en bors beserings opgedoen. Die voertuig moes omgerol en die voorruit uitgekap word om die insittendes te bevry. Die paartjie het moontlik hulle lewe daaraan te danke dat iemand die ongeluk sien gebeur het aangesien die gras so lank is dat die voertuig, wat na die ongeluk op sy dak gelê het, nie van die pad af sigbaar was nie. 'n Ambulans is ontbied, maar kon eers 'n uur later by die toneel opdaag.

A local business man selling roasted chicken gizzards on the sidewalk opposite Jorico’s in Lephalale was arrested on Tuesday when a K9 unit, patrolling the area found a bag of dagga on him. The suspect appeared in the Lephalale magistrate court on Wednesday.

Cable theft suspects arrested

LEPHALALE - Five suspects were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the dumping site just outside Onverwacht. Telkom cables that were reportedly stolen in Steenbokpan were found in their possession after police reacted on a tip off from the public. Their vehicle was impounded and the men appeared in the Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.

Bylaws are not being enforced

It seems that the bylaws relating to drinking in public and the playing of loud music are still not being enforced in Lephalale. On Monday a business owner took this photo, showing Lephalale police talking to a group of men who were openly drinking in public. The police spoke to them for a while and then left without arresting anyone. The party then continued until late Monday afternoon. The parking area is in front of a liquor store and in the vicinity of an old age home and several residential units. According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, it is unacceptable that police officers allow this kind of behaviour. He endeavours to take the matter up with his commanding officer.
