The SPCA in Mokopane is broke and in desperate need of financial aid, the association’s chairperson, Marcelle Maritz told Mogalakwena mayor, Malose Mabuela when he visited the SPCA last Thursday.
Mabuela, the ANC chief whip, Phuti Pila and the speaker, Melba Mabusela, visited the SPCA upon Maritz’s invite. She is hoping the municipality would release funds allocated for the SPCA sooner than the scheduled release date later this year.
“Right now we have peole who haven’t been paid salaries this month and we are running out of food for the animals we care for,” she said.
The SPCA no longer received funding from the national lotery and relies entirely on donations and fundraising projects for its day-to-day expenses.
