Body found at bus station

LEPHALALE - A body was discovered at the bus station next to the Magistrate’s court in Lephalale on Saturday morning. According to W.O. Frans Mokoena it is not clear how the man died. A local hairdresser, who works from a stall at the bus station discovered the body and contacted the police. The deceased had identification documentation on him, but cannot be named until his family has been notified. According to the police report the man had a shoelace tied around his neck. A murder case was opened at the Lephalale police station. Anyone with information can contact the police at 014 762 1000.

Shack and shops burn in Marapong

Local residents in Marapong who are fed up with crime in their community took to the streets last Thursday and burnt down three shacks and two tuck shops belonging to Zimbabwean nationals.

Die Nederduits Hervormde Kerk Ebenhaeser in Lephalale het verlede Vrydagaand hulle jaarlikse Safarie-ete by die kerk aangebied. Met ‘n vark en skaap op die spit is daar heerlik geëet en lekker gedans op die maat van boere musiek soos verskaf deur die plaaslike orkes, Outentiek. Een van Karel Roos se waatlemoene is opgeveil maar nie voordat ‘n mens kon raai hoeveel die meneer weeg nie. Die wat gesê het hy weeg in die omgewing van 50 kg was in die kol.

The brightest kid on the block

Pheeha Khaas, a grade 7 learner at Mokopane Primary School, received every award a learner can possibly earn at the school’s recent awards ceremony. He was named the Dux learner and also received subject awards for being the best learner in Mathematics, Sepedi, Natural Science, Technology, English, EMS and Life Orientation. He was also named best leader and receive a bronze medal from the Academy for Maths and Science in Limpopo. Pheeha finished his final year in primary school with an average of 95%. His parents, Ronald and Mmaseleka are incredibly proud of him. “He is such a special child. We hope his siblings will follow his example,” Pheeha’s mother told Northern News on Monday. Pheeha says he hopes to finish his high-school education with as much success as he did primary school. After school he wants to enroll in medical school. “I don’t necessarily want to become a doctor, but I would like to work in the medical field one day.” Northern News congratulates Pheeha on his achievement and wishes him all the best with his high school carreer.

Die klein dogtertjie stap nou bykans twee jaar lank ‘n pad na herstel nadat ‘n Mosambiekse Spoegkobra haar in Desember 2011 in haar bed gepik het. Maandag was Mikayla se 20ste operasie en hierdie keer is daar gepoog om haar vingertjie te red.

Dié geld is ingesamel nadat Ismails Hardwarehouse in samewerking met die ere bewaarders ‘n bewusmakingsdag vir die bekamping van renosterstro-pery aangebied het. PPC en Webber het ingestem om ook tot die insameling by te dra. Bronkhorst, wat ook die voorsitter van die Ere-Bewaarders in Limpopo is, het gesê dié organisasie is die enigste een wat wettiglik fondse vir SANParke mag insamel. Hierdie geld gaan dus direk na SANparke waar dit vir die stryd teen renosterstropery aangewend sal word.
