Audi Polokwane recently hosted the Polokwane match of the Audi Quattro Cup golf tournament where Duane Viljoen and Andrew Galloway walked off as winners with 43 points. Short on their heels were Aaron Segwapa and Peter Masehela with Zipho Ngobeni and Freddy Greaver (Polokwane mayor) in third place.
The Quattro Cup series was established in 1991 in Germany where 51 tournaments were hosted by German Audi dealers. Since then, the series has grown to include over 50 countries worldwide.
Each competing country hosts Qualifying Events and a National Final to determine their national winners. The national champions from each country then compete at the World Final, held each year at an international resort.
In South Africa, 12 Qualifying Events takes place this year - hosted by Audi dealerships across the country. The tournaments are by invitation-only. The format is Greensomes Stableford. More than one million golfers globally have competed in the Audi Quattro Cup since its inception and the popularity of the event continues to grow.
