Mokopane Cycle Club last Saturday cele-brated its launch with a first fun ride and boerewors roll braai for new members. The club committee is made up of Casper du Plessis (chairperson), Paul Esssakow (vice chairperson), Trudie du Plessis (treasurer), Adele Essakow (secretary).
The Club has lots of things planned for the rest of the year including the upcoming Debtsafe Cansa MTB Challenge in October.
They are very excited to see the sport grow and want to help new riders become better and more skilled by hosting technical workshops, having more fun group rides and riding as a club at other MTB races.
The benefits of joining the club are great for families, and individual riders. Every time you enter a race longer than 30km, you will need a CSA (Cycle South Africa) license.  These licenses cost R35 for a day license but if you are part of a club you can buy a year license. This fee is not included in the MCC Club fee. You get a lot of social benefits when riding in a group as this is where you learn from more experienced riders and where you can share tips and tricks of the trade.
It is also a place to meet like-minded people who love to cycle. Cycling is now also an official school sport. So your high school children can enter the schools league.
The Club is also working on getting better tariffs or entry fees at places where they can ride.
For more information and upcoming races, find them on www.facebook.com/mokopanecycleclub.
Club fees are R350/year, children under the age of 13 free if one or both parents are club members. If one or both parents are not members the child will have to pay full membership fees. Entry forms are available at Office Made Easy or DebtSafe offices. Contact Trudie du Plessis Cell: 082 412 9392 or Paul Essakow Cell: 082 577 1241 for more information.
