MGC gymnasts shine

The Mokopane Gymnastics Club pushed their gymnasts to perform by entering them into a tough competition featuring various clubs from Limpopo and Gauteng during the recent Eldo Stars gymnastics competition at the Matsport Centre in Centurion the past weekend.
Gymnasts from all levels competed and came home boasting several gold-, silver and bronze medals according to their personal scores which are made up of typically four items including vault, beam, U-bars and floor.
The results were as follows:
Level 1 girls: Miqyala Venter (8th overall, 2nd place for U-bar); Jennezee Vermeulen (18th) and Angelique Nelson (21st). Some 52 gymnasts competed in this category.
Level 2 girls: Chené Goosen (10th overall); Jessica Essakow (14th overall and 1st place on beam) and Lungile Mahlangu (26th).
Level 3 girls: Melody Raats (4th overall); Lesedi Mashishi (14th); Jodi Knight (27th). In total 49 girls competed in this category.
Level 4 girls: Shani Dreyer (8th overall); Lize Janse Van Rensburg (3rd).
Boys level 4: Juandre Ruytenberg (2nd overall); Martin Brits (5th); Johan Strauss (7th); Louis Boshoff (8th) and Josua van der Merwe (16th).
Boys level 1: Ruan Goosen (14th overall); Hannes Raats (19th); Tyron Jordaan (20th) and Waldo Bester (30th).
Boys level 2: Amicus de Beer (15th overall); Danyell Swanepoel (19th); Luke Knight (20th) en Hanru Bester (21st).
Boys level 3: Luan du Plessis (6th overall and 1st on vault); Marnus Ruytenberg (5th); Jan van der Baan (24th) and Abukwe Midingi (26th).
Boys level 5: Samuel van der Merwe (1st overall and 1st on rings, vault, p-bar and h-bar and 2nd floor) and Kurt Kruger (3rd overall).
Boys level 8: Stephen Marshall  (1st).
