MGC bursting with pride

Eight senior gymnasts from the Mokopane Gymnastics Club (MGC) headed to Cape Town for the annual National Gymnastic Games earlier this month. As part of the Limpopo-team, they faced tough competition and tested their skills against South Africa’s best gymnasts.
The results for the men’s artistic gymnastics competition for level 4, in the 14-17 years age group, included: Johan Strauss - fourth in SA with a bronze medal for for Pommel and silver for vault; Juandre Ruytenberg -  fifth in SA; and Louis Boshoff – tenth in SA with a  silver medal for floor and a bronze medal on the rings.
Level 5 in the 13-14 age group included Kurt Kruger - ninth in SA and Samuel van der Merwe - seventh in SA with a silver medal for vault.
In the women’s artistic gymnastics group for level 5 Shani Dreyer finished 25th in SA overall in the u/11 age group. Lize Janse van Rensburg also finished 25th in SA in the 18 and up age group.
MCG Rhythmic gymnasts, Chanelle Hamilton was placed 19th in SA in the u/15 age group for level 6.
