The debate between public and private education is heating up as this year's matric results are released. Insimbi Legacy Project is a non-profit educational initiative aimed at educating children about conservation. About 500 people gathered at the Resource, Equipping and Training (RET) Centre in Fourie Street for the first-ever Mokopane Education Expo. The Expo, organised by Mokopane Destiny Academy (MDA), included an exhibition, free workshops and entertainment for parents and educators.

"The majority of learners cannot read well enough to succeed in subjects across the curriculum in Gr 4 and higher grades,” said Prof Sarah Howie, national research coordinator for the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study​ 2016 South Africa. Director of Lectorsa, Minda Marshall, shed some light on this gloomy matter.

In a press release to the media, the Mogalakwena Municipality has announced water restrictions for Mokopane and Mahwelereng. The new restrictions, which will reportedly start with immediate effect, will mean that the water supply will be closed daily from 04:00-12:00 and 16:00-22:00.

MOKOPANE - Three suspects were arrested for copper cable theft valued at R50 000 by members of the Mahwelereng police and K9 unit last weekend.
